PADI Divemaster Internship

During the PADI Divemaster course you learn the knowledge and skill necessary to progress from recreational diving to the first PADI professional membership level. Instructor level academic knowledge will be developed along with watermanship and stamina.

You will also develop your Scuba skills to demonstration level. The course also covers rescue procedures, underwater mapping skills, dive planning, leadership and proper response to common problems.

At Porthkerris we prefer to train our Divemasters using the Internship method. This gives you genuine day-to-day experience of assisting in training real students and guiding real divers.

As a Divemaster Intern you will be part of the team at Porthkerris working alongside an instructor to gain experience in assisting with training at entry and advanced levels, running the Scuba Review and Local Orientation courses, acting as a Divemaster on our boats, and escorting nervous, rusty or simply lonely divers!

It’s hard work but we guarantee you will enjoy it and come away not just with your Divemaster qualification but also with the confidence and good experience to make you an excellent DM wherever in the world you intend to use your qualification.

Entry requirements: PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent, CPR and first aid training, 20 logged dives upon enrolment, 60 for certification, medical approval signed by your physician, 18 years old

Duration: varies depending on time of year and your level of experience, minimum 3 weeks but please call to discuss.

Internship
Cost: £200 (includes Dive Master manual and tuition – you will also need other manuals and reference materials including: PADI Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving, PADI Diving Knowledge Workbook)

Accommodation can be arranged locally and basic camping facilities are available at Porthkerris.

Divemasters who choose to continue their professional education can then do so at Porthkerris as we are a 5* IDC Centre – please see the Instructor Training Leaflet for AI Courses, IDCs and Instructor Level Training.
